Office Space

In the office once again, lovely Monday, just so foggy outside, and so cold. Seems the arms of winter are finally coming in for an embrace (ack). And here I sit in the good ol’ Ape-cage, rewriting my proposal, and doing three tasks in parallel – brushing up on my UML skills, peer-reviewing a paper for Yongwu and thinking of a training plan. So much to accomplish, yet not enough time.

A flight of fancy earlier this day when I started missing my Mac ever so much. I thought – why not reinstall Mac OS X on my main machine? The idea seemed ever so exciting and well, decided to explore further, till I hit a brick wall. Apparently one major component in my PC is the Promise Ultra 133 TX2 IDE Controller, which basically controls four of my internal drives. Drivers for Mac simply don’t exist. An option might be to look for alternate sources for the driver, however, it is a prospect that seems rather daunting at this point of time. I’d much rather make use of the functionality of XP than to have half my hardware not working under Mac OS X.

In other news, Apple is planning a big event on February 20th, perhaps to launch 10.5 (Tiger) or announce dates for the same. I know one person who’ll be checking the live feeds, waiting for the big announcement! (So much duality).

Ok, enough of my rants, now back to work!

21:30 and all is well, I just got done with Dinner, an experiment, making sandwiches, the way mom used to. Eager to test my new GFX card, I am downloading *ulp* a few games to road test this monster.

Something weird I noticed though. I ran a SiSoft Sandra Professional benchmark on my system. What was weird was the realization of the fact that C2D systems don’t offer too much of a speed differential to my current rig. The delta was to the tune of 1.81, which though impressive, cannot compete with a Quad Core Intel QX6700 which offered a 521% increase in computing power (na klar). So, I can safely think about scrapping the whole idea of upgrading my system to a C2D processor. Just have to wait for the Quad cores to become affordable.

That’s all for today! Till laters!

Apple’s new Tiger release would surely be something to look out for, but me being a windows user, i guess im much more than happy with vista =D! well it is a fact that needs to be admitted, everything that exists on apple, will be surely on windows, but the opposite is not true. QuadCore systems, i dont think they have been released in india as yet, we’re still running on p4′s or the newly introduced c2d. How’d the sandwiches turn out? Surely do test out Caesar IV on your gpu, i had to run it on the minimal settings, then it was running (smoothly you can say). But im sure it’ll run good on your computer, since you got your new geforce! HEHA! Anyway man gonna be making Butterscotch pudding =D, i hope it turns out good, surely cant be the way mum used to make it…but lets see how it turns out..edible i hope anyway m out bro…
    love ya
