Back to XP
Really should’ve seen this coming. After having tried my darned best to make life worthwhile on my Hackintosh, it seems that all my endeavors come to naught, as I find myself back on Windows XP (after a brief jaunt with Vista). I really feel let down, and would have loved to continue on my Hackintosh, but the limited support and frequent crashes had me up in arms – literally! So I fire back my Windows XP, and reinstall all the software I had found alternates for in Mac, and here I am, on WordPress instead of Apple’s amazing iWeb suite, and updating a blog (got addicted to it) via MS Word 2007.
In other news, the new GFX card is working out terrific. I must admit it was high time I replaced the aging POS I had earlier (GeForce 5600 GTX). I was rewarded almost immediately on Vista with an upgrade of the Performance Index. My GFX card rated at 5,1 instead of the measly 2,0 it was clocking earlier. But all in all, I found Vista to be rather very demanding of my PC. As the Apple Insider post proudly proclaimed “Vista Dawns, but the World Yawns”. Nothing could be closer to the truth there.
And so here I am, back on XP, ashamed and beaten, waiting for Apple to release its next version of OS, and the LED upgrades for MBPs. That would be the time to switch over, finally.
Update at 19:38 - am now using Windows Live Writer (Beta) to update this blog entry. It seems to offer a much more sanguine interface in comparison to Word 2007. I might just stick with this one. However, adding pictures is still a pain in the proverbial ar*e. To test things out, am including a snapshot of my Desktop after having converted back to XP. Here goes nothing –
